Improve Roads, Ride Quality, Friction, and Noise with Concrete Diamond Grinding
DSI’s diamond grinding services can help restore worn or slightly irregular pavement deficiencies for a smoother roadway surface and safer, more comfortable driver experience.
Surfaces such as highways and streets that are affected by normal wear and tear, construction damage, environmental issues, or prior restoration efforts can be repaired by removing the hardened Portland cement concrete (PCC) with closely spaced, diamond-tipped saw blades affixed to a rotating drum. The grinding depth can be adjusted by the operator to achieve the desired result but is typically 1/16 of an inch to ½ inch deep. Water is used to cool the cutting head and the slurry is then eliminated using a vacuum system attached to the equipment properly disposed of at an offsite facility or the on-slope of the shoulder.
Key Advantages of Diamond Grinding:
- Improved ride quality
- Increased friction resistance especially for commercial vehicles
- Noise reduction
- Safer driver experience
- Decreased fuel consumption
- Lower maintenance/replacement costs than traditional restoration methods such as asphalt

DSI’s experienced crews use state-of-the-art grinding equipment including the revolutionary PC6000 grinders, as well as innovative restoration techniques to ensure the highest quality result each time regardless of the size or scope of the project.
